HVAC Technician/Tester
SolutionAir is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Technician/Tester to join our growing Testing Department. This role is responsible for planning, executing, documenting, and validating testing activities for custom HVAC equipment prior to shipment. The successful candidate will take ownership of assigned units and work closely with Production, Controls, Refrigeration, Engineering, Service, and Quality teams to ensure equipment meets customer requirements and SolutionAir quality standards.
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:
Performing water, pressure, point-to-point electrical, Hi-Pot, and functional testing on custom HVAC equipment.
Reviewing project documentation including submittals, wiring diagrams, and control drawings to develop testing plans.
Validating operation of fans, compressors, pumps, dampers, valves, sensors, controls, and safety devices.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues identified during testing activities.
Documenting test results and ensuring all testing records are completed prior to shipment.
Creating and maintaining testing procedures, work instructions, and test packages.
Generating and tracking NCRs and CARs while supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of testing processes.
Maintaining the Testing Department SPQRC Board and participating in daily operational meetings.
Providing field support including commissioning, customer witness testing, troubleshooting, and warranty investigations (approximately 30% travel).
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and equipment operation.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and mechanical documentation.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and technical documentation abilities.
Experience with HVAC testing, commissioning, manufacturing, or field service is considered an asset.
Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong ownership, accountability, and a safety-first mindset.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout North America as required.
